根据发音的特点, 英语双元音可分为: 合口双元音与集中双元音。

英语双元音是由两个音合二为一, 发音时由第一个音向第二个音滑动, 滑动过程中没有任何停顿。双元音发音饱满、圆润、悦耳动听。英语双元音由第一个音向第二个音滑动过程中, 第一个音长而响亮, 并自然而连贯地向第二个音滑动, 第二个音短而含糊; 一般来说, 由第一个音向第二个音滑动时, 不到第二个音的发音部位, 发音即告完成。需要注意的是双元音是从一个音节向另一个音节滑动, 要避免把双元音单音化。 . @- @% p/ ]2 a9 T0 t0 K W4 g4 _
合口双元音/eɪ/ /əʊ/ /aɪ/ /au/ /ɔɪ/发音时, 舌位从第一个元音(前元音/e/ /a/、 中元音/ə/、后元音/ɒ/) 分别滑向第二个元音(/ɪ/ /u/) 。 因为这五个双元音的第二元音/ɪ/ /ʊ/是合口元音, 因此我们把这五个双元音叫做合口双元音。 0 j+ b$ H& x/ w L2 i+ }
